We’re both intrigued and threatened by this NPR piece on a computer program that generates sports stories from box scores.

This is really interesting, but I’m not sure how much use there would be for this. It’s those funny anecdotes, like the weather, or a player getting ejected, or a abnormal play, those things make the article interesting to read. If you want the bare statistics that this bland article provides, get it right from the box score. It’s a really interesting technology but I don’t think it fits this field of application.
